BenSem

Authority and command are two things bands rarely achieve in a short space of time. Yet Pontypridd based Indie Pop Rockers BenSem have all of this and more. Beginning where it is always best to, the seeds of BenSem were planted when an 18 year old Sem was given a guitar by his friend; an act that would ignite the flame of a life of music making. Later followed Pete Rawbone lead guitar an old school friend of Sem, Ads Jones a bassist from Blackwood, and finally Stevie Allen a very diverse drummer from Pontypridd.

In 2006 a series of events unfolded, that by a twist of fate, created the band BenSem. Their first EP was well received and made waves throughout the UK music scene. Wanting more and craving improved production than that of their first release, BenSem retreated to the secluded Twin Peaks Studio in the Brecon Beacons where, working alongside producer Adam Feust, their debut album, Western Lights was created. Mastered by Howie Weinberg, Western Lights is a captivating and powerful debut, selling out on both Amazon UK and US, as well as selling over 3000 copies on the bands website.

BenSem regularly gig to jam packed venues, such as Cardiff International Arena, Storm, Leicester Square, Millennium Centre, Cardiff, BBC Radio Wales Live Sessions, The Cavern Club, Liverpool, Little Civic, and Wolverhampton, pleasing the crowds with Sem’s emotive lyrics and alluring melodies. BenSem continue to go from strength to strength stopping at nothing to inspire their ever growing fan base. Sem’s status as a master wordsmith is cemented in the strength of his music and lyrics. In a music industry that works on fads and short-lived trends, BenSem are masters and commanders of their own world, creating absorbing and mesmeric music that defies genres and boundaries. Concerned only by what they can achieve, and not what others do, BenSem live in the moment when performing, offering a glimpse into the bold and introspective world that strives to produce honest music that offers a potent dose of inspiration to their listeners.
