KryKey Spotlight an Artist:: Rowdee Methodz

In our continuing "Spotlight an Artist" series here on KryKey Personal Web Radio, today's Artist is Rowdee Methodz

Dope Emcee from N.C. is the Phrase that stands out whenever I think of Rowdee. He was born in Winston Salem, N.C. Rowdee is truly one of the elite Emcees out thousands coming down from the north. He has been spitting fire since the Air Force One, but didn’t get serious about it until he caught a robbery beef. Since then this profound artist has been getting it in with numerous recordings and performances. The self proclaimed Carolina messiah actually has a lot to give the Hip-Hop world. His delivery is wicked; his flow is timeless; and his drive is relentless.

“I’d like to think of myself as a well rounded artist: exclaims the Winston Salem native. “In these times you got so much bullshit flooding the industry and people that say that they love Hip-Hop is buying this shit off the shelves while real artists that actually have something to say get shelved by labels so they can crank the Roy. What part of the game is that? If this is what this culture has to look forward to, then Hip-Hop is, as Mz Nokz would put it: Borderline Cardiac Arrest.”

I know it sounds cocky, but if you actually sat down and listened to this guy’s flow, you’d see why he has reason to do so.

Rowdee can be heard on Desert One on the KryKey Personal Web Radio network.

Machette’s Mantra - 23rd April 2009

Machette’s Mantra
23rd April 2009

The hip hop scene in NY is actually flourishing; we had a firsthand look at what's really going down. It seems that all the independent artists are performing and networking underground trying to bore a hole into the heavily guarded "Music Business Mountain". I've noticed that there is a fight going on right under our noses unknowingly. The industry is dying and the independent artists see an opportunity to move in for the kill. But the industry isn't going down easy. They still want to pretend like they are in control. Though this is so not the case. This is like watching a good boxing match. We'll see who comes out victorious! My money is on the Independents hands down....

Developmental Sound Labs Artist “L GUNZ” is making his way through the New York hip hop scene with a rock solid delivery and style that reminds one of the 90s.A time when lyrics hit harder than the watered down hip hop we are forced to listen to now. He is working in the Sound Lab on two projects, a mixtape and an album both bound to stamp LGUNZ's name on the underground and make wave in the hip hop world in general. Is hip hop ready for LGUNZ? I'm not sure but I'd be careful if I were you guys!

Hear some of his work on WCUT Radio and KryKey Personal Web Radio.

AIRYKA’S MIC BOOTH - 10th April 2009

AIRYKA’S MIC BOOTH
10th April 2009

The Hip Hop buzz in North Carolina is stronger than ever. Hip Hop is definitely here to stay. With new mixtapes and albums debuting soon, the fierce emcees in North Carolina is ready for the world, and they are coming at you in full blast. We want the world to know that North Carolina is representing. Our featured emcee this week is the Hip Hop revolutionist Seven (Young Bunchy Carter).

Seven, aka Young Bunchy Carter, has been a force to be reckoned with on the underground Hip-Hop scene since his debut in 1996. As one-half of the NC duo The Nobodies, he has toured with and opened for some of the realest artists around including KRS-One, Queen Latifah, The Roots, Jay-Z, CNN, De La Soul and countless others.

Seven had an unprecedented 18-month run as freestyle champ of local Hip-Hop station 102 Jamz. After finally bowing out, he went on to conquer many of the most talented flowers in NC in a flurry of battles stretching from Wilmington to Boone.

Now on the verge of finally getting the love and the loot due to him, Seven has aligned himself with underground stalwart label Domination Recordings and released the blazing new EP Ridin' High. With production from Midi.Marc, Keelay and DJ Forge, along with guest appearances from Equinox, Supastition and A.P., the project is a sure-fire sign that Hip-Hop is indeed alive. Get your coy today on i-tunes or e-music, and be on the lookout for Soulja Music Vol. 3: Da Revolution, mixed by Seven's personal DJ, DJ J.Lone.

Check out and listen to Seven on the KryKey Personal Web Radio station Desert One Las Vegas (www.krykey.com/PublicRadio.aspx?Key=106) or at http://www.myspace.com/nobodies7 or http://www.siremusicgroup.org/

Let’s continue to support real Hip Hop, because after all it is not just a genre, but a Cultural Movement.

RISE OF THE INDEPENDENTS!

RISE OF THE INDEPENDENTS!
DEVELOPMENTAL SOUND LABS & WCUT RADIO
by Machette

"Rise of the independents", is the war cry of WCUT Radio & Developmental Sound Labs. This may be the biggest independent / underground company merger ever! Developmental Sound Labs is a recording studio in Brooklyn NY, founded by Just Will and his business partner known as 'Bigs'.

DSL has two locations and independent artists from all over the city come to get their music recorded, mixed and made ready for public exposure. There is now a place where artists can go for a good start into the music field. The goal of DSL is to be the place where "stars are groomed and prepped for success".

The merger between WCUT Radio and DEV LABS has cut a path straight through the music business and created a bridge for independents from the streets to living their dreams!

Now the independents will be on top! They must only be shown the way and from the looks of the success of both companies, the industry is in for a "Rude Awakening"!

Hip-Hop in New York

Hip-Hop in New York
by Machette

These days hip hop in NY is on the dry side. It's really interesting because NY is such an innovative place. Nonetheless the hip hop culture is starving for something new, something different.

Our researchers have found that there is an empty look on the faces of hip hop fans when asked their opinion on the direction of hip hop.

Unfortunately, it seems to be going nowhere....unless the underground and independent make a rise in the music business.

Hip Hop always had the underground as an effective weapon against extinction. KryKey has a solution for the problem facing hip hop fans and artists. WCUT is a featured station geared towards the independent hip hop/ pop culture. The real talent lies dormant, underground. It's time for the rise of the underground. Listen to www.WCUTRadio.com to hear the independents.

Machette is now on KryKey Personal Web Radio

MACHETTE The Cleaner
AGE: 33

PLACE OF ORIGIN: QUEENS, NEW YORK
OCCUPATION: HIP-HOP ARTIST, CEO, HERO

HISTORY: Machette was raised in the South Jamaica Queens zone in NY. He lived the average life of a Queens kid till he turned 15. It is said that this is when he realized something was wrong ....with everything! It was that feeling tt "something wasn't right" that compelled him to search for the truth. It was this period in his life that he realized who he was and what his purpose on earth was. Machette's logic was "whatever is going on is not natural, so that means someone is doing this". That realizaton plus his love for hip hop gave birth to the voice we now hear coming through tohusands of speakers around the globe. His childhood took place in the 80's so He feels that he and Hip Hop "grew up together" but he was a listener, a fan at first. Until one da He said to himself " heyyyy, I can write something better than that!" And he's been "writing something better than that ever since"!. It was around this time in his life also that he and his best friend known as Q, decided that the only difference between them and the heroes in comic books was MONEY! So they started a group they called the Assassinz Guild. They chose to use numbers as names so MACHETTE chose to be #2 and Q took on the #1. Then, It was over....MACHETTE HAD A CREW NOW! From that pont he went from school yard to school yard, lunch tables to staircases to stages you name it, he went on a battle rampage. This is one of the more interesting FACTS about MACHETTE, to this day he hasn't lost a battle yet! He told us he could offer $1000 to the person that saw him lose a battle and the money wouldn't move!

But then around the age of 26, he moved to Raleigh North Carolina where he met a man named JOHN J. MITCHELL III. One day riding around in the truck MACHETTE decides to throw in a tape (yes, cassette tape) of an album he was working on. Of course it was gritty and on a tape the sound quality was to laugh at but John noticed that this brother had some damn skills! In the blink of an eye, John became MACHETTE's manager and during a Saturday lunch MACHETTE was doodling on a napkin and it came to him... "Assassin Records!". He said it again to himself "Asaassin Records!". John heard him and said "you wanna do it?", MACHETTE replied "i don't give a f**k, I'm not scared! let's do it!". Then months later they were in and out of studios working on MACHETTE's first Album ever which he called "STRATEGO", based on a war board game.

Assassin recordz flopped due to multiple reasons, then he turned to the streetz "hardbody" as some would say. He sold everything but furniture and the idea hit him to just cut out ALL of the middle men in the industry and just go outside and sell cds!

That was the birth of his pride and joy project ""BLACKMARKET MUZIC". The concept is that an artist always has and always will have the right to sell something he creates without any interference. MUSIC BEING NO EXCEPTION!

So now MACHETTE is leading a revolution where the Artists regain control of the arts! NOW HE'S ON THE AIR, IT'S CALLED WCUT RADIO.... BEWARE!

Check out Machette's music on www.KryKey.com and if your an Artist or Band, create your own Personal Web Radio Station at KryKey Personal Web Radio and promote your music.
